They are a very good choice for travelers. Also, if the connection to the headphone jack on your player is on the bottom, you may have to turn it over if you want it cradled between the speakers. They are lightweight and collapse to a compact, rectangular package (6-3/4" x 3-1/2" x 1-1/4"), but when open the speakers separate to about 8-1/2", giving a nice stereo sound. The gap between the speakers cradles my iPhone, but it's a very loose fit, not so secure. The iStation has a lot of plastic and at times feels less than solid. But, it is light (the speaker module weighs 10 oz). It comes with its own wall-wart power supply, also nicely small, as well as 4 batteries. No volume control and no bass/treble knob - control these from your player as much as you can.It connects to your MP3 player via a 3.5mm headphone-style jack on a 7" cable, so it'll support any Phone model (I've got the 3G), an iPod, or even a Creative Zen Stone, for example.
Or, just lay your player on the table. The sound is fine but not outstanding. and I don't expect ot be tossing it around.Overall, I do like the iStation. There are not a lot of choices for travel speakers (speakers light and compact enough to pack in your suitcase), but these speakers do the trick. Features include two "kick-stands" on the back that flip down for support, and an On-Off switch. You won't get a booming bass response here, and the speakers strain a bit a full volume inputs, but it does get loud enough that I ran my iPhone at about 2/3 volume when working in the garage recently - music was plenty loud.As another reviewer pointed out, this speaker pair will not charge your iPhone or iPod, but given it's price, that's no surprise.
This was the smallest I could fine. The style is also very compact which makes for easy pack & go trips. I needed travel speakers to attach to my I-Phone.The other homes seemed more sturdy but size is what mattered for this purchase. Love the size & weight.
These sound very good for small speakers. I did assume that it was a docking station, but i guess that is my fault for not reading the product description closely enough.
